Terms of Use

1. Agreement to terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Cookiva mobile app and website, operated by Abbas Ashraf Mughal ("Cookiva", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Cookiva, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Cookiva.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Cookiva account. If you set up a Family plan, you as the organizer are responsible for the profiles you add for other household members.

3. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Let us know right away at cookiva.support@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

4. Subscriptions & billing

• Cookiva offers a free tier and paid subscription tiers (Premium and Family), described on our pricing page. Prices are shown in the app and are subject to change with notice.
• Premium includes a 7-day free trial. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, it converts to a paid subscription and you'll be charged.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
• Subscriptions are billed and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Cancel anytime in your App Store or Play Store account settings.
• Refunds are handled according to Apple's and Google's standard refund policies — Cookiva does not process refunds directly.

5. User content

When you post content through Cook With Me (photos, captions, comments), you keep ownership of it, but grant Cookiva a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it within the app so we can operate the social features. You're responsible for content you post and must have the rights to share it.

6. Acceptable use

Don't use Cookiva to post unlawful, abusive, or infringing content; attempt to reverse-engineer or disrupt the app; or misuse the Family plan to share access outside your household beyond the allowed profile limit.

Community content. There is no place on Cookiva for objectionable content. Don't post anything that is sexually explicit, hateful, harassing, threatening, violent, or that exploits or endangers children, and don't impersonate others or post spam. We have zero tolerance for this.

• Report it. Use the Report option on any Cook With Me post. We review reports and remove content that breaks these rules.
• Block people. You can block a user from the same menu, so their posts no longer appear in your feed.
• What we do. A post reported several times is hidden automatically until we have reviewed it. We may remove content and suspend or delete the accounts of people who break these rules, without notice.
• Tell us directly. You can also email cookiva.support@gmail.com about anything you see.

7. Recipe & food-safety disclaimer

Expiry reminders, recipe suggestions, and dietary/allergen filtering are provided for convenience only and are not a substitute for your own judgment or professional food-safety or medical advice. Always check food safety yourself, especially if you have allergies or medical dietary needs.

8. Third-party services

Cookiva relies on third-party services, including Firebase, RevenueCat, and Google AdMob, to operate. Your use of Cookiva is also subject to those providers' own terms, to the extent applicable.

9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

Cookiva is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Abbas Ashraf Mughal is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Cookiva is limited to the amount you paid us for Cookiva in the 12 months before the claim, or MYR 100 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Termination

You can stop using Cookiva and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

11. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you have a problem, please email cookiva.support@gmail.com first and we will try to resolve it informally. Any dispute we cannot resolve that way is subject to the courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, without limiting any mandatory consumer rights you have in your own country.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or by email.
